Pregnancy week by week

Selected week:

You

When waking up in the morning you could feel nauseous and you could have strange taste and smell preferences. The growing uterus presses on your bladder and makes you urine more often. The major changes occur with your breast which is suddenly tender, tingling and heavier than usual. The sebiparous glands of tits could be visible and perceptible when touching.

Is it possible that you are expecting twins? The signs that might indicate that you are pregnant with more than one child have been provided below.

  • gross morning sickness
  • severe tiredness
  • higher level of hCG hormone in your blood

Your baby

The embryo is now 5 mm long and its heart beats 140-150 times a minute, i.e. about twice faster than yours. The body of your future child develops and the places where limbs are going to develop could be noticed. Its head is still big, but there are already pans in the places where eyes, mouth and ears will develop. The placenta develops fast and the gestational sac has been formed where the child develops up to its birth.

Dr. Marek Šois recommends

Even if the changes in your body have not yet referred to pregnancy externally, now your urine includes already so much pregnancy hormone that the home test indicates a positive result for sure. If you feel nauseous, it could help to eat something dry, such as a cookie or bread. Therefore, keep snacks always by your side. Some women find relief in ginger. Try it out- only so you know what is best for you. Always remember to drink enough. At the early stage of pregnancy minor bleeding or staining could occur. Sometimes this could be a sign of miscarriage. In case of doubt call your midwife or gynaecologist.

If you wish to know whether this is a live fetus and whether you are expecting twins, you might be interested in our pregnancy detection and fetal viability assessment.

Why is it important to assess the viability of an embryo?

Approximately 15% of pregnancies terminate at the early stage of pregnancy. If fetal heartbeat is seen in ultrasound, the risk of miscarriage decreases up to 10 times. At the same time, if the risk of miscarriage has been detected, it is possible to start treatment on time.

If you do not study, work or you have not been registered as unemployed, you should know that after your pregnancy has been detected by the gynaecologist at the ultrasound test you will automatically have the right to health insurance of the Health Insurance Fund. To apply for insurance cover, you should address the Health Insurance Fund of the location of your residence. Take your personal identification document and the certificate of pregnancy issued by the doctor along.
