Ultrasound system

At the Fetal Ultrasound Centre, we use modern ultrasound equipment and analysis solutions specifically designed to meet the needs of obstetrics and gynaecology. Our goal is not technology for its own sake, but to provide the most accurate, precise, and reliable assessment of pregnancy progression and fetal development—supporting the physician’s clinical decision-making and reassuring patients.
Ultrasound system: Voluson E8 BT12
Examinations are performed using the Voluson E8 BT12 ultrasound system—a new-generation digital 3D/4D ultrasound platform explicitly developed for obstetric and gynaecological imaging. The system utilises high-frequency ultrasound waves, enabling detailed and reliable visualisation of fetal development at different stages of pregnancy.
Thanks to specialised 3D/4D and high-resolution transvaginal probes, it is possible to assess:
- fetal brain and central nervous system structures,
- cardiac anatomy and blood flow,
- early developmental markers,
- fetal well-being, even in more complex clinical situations.
These probes allow high-quality examinations even in very early pregnancy and in cases where fetal position or maternal body habitus may limit standard ultrasound assessment.
Artificial intelligence as support for the physician – Sonos® AI
To further enhance the quality and diagnostic accuracy of prenatal ultrasound examinations, the Fetal Ultrasound Centre also uses Sonos® AI—an artificial intelligence–based ultrasound analysis software.
Sonos® AI helps to:
- identify and measure ultrasound-visible structures more precisely and consistently,
- support differential diagnosis of prenatal developmental anomalies,
- link ultrasound phenotypes with potential genetic risks,
- assist in timely referral for invasive diagnostic procedures,
- support geneticists in prioritising the most relevant genes for further analysis.
Artificial intelligence does not replace the physician’s experience or clinical judgment. On the contrary, it works alongside the physician, helping to structure information and support the decision-making process. The final assessment is always made by the physician, based on professional knowledge, experience, and the specifics of the individual pregnancy.
For patients, the use of Sonos® AI primarily means greater accuracy, more precise explanations, and increased reassurance—especially in situations where answers are not black-and-white.
Examination results and data access
Ultrasound examination reports are also uploaded to the national electronic health record system, where expectant mothers can access their results and the physician’s comments via the Patient Portal.
Upon request, it is also possible to:
- record the ultrasound examination with audio and physician explanations on a USB drive,
- print high-quality colour 3D images of the fetus,
- or share fetal images and video clips via the Ticefy cloud to smart devices.
Examination environment and patient experience
During the examination, expectant parents can follow the ultrasound scan on a wall-mounted 40-inch LED monitor, which allows better understanding of the findings and calmer participation in the examination process.
The ultrasound suite is equipped with a specially designed, heated examination couch for obstetric and gynaecological use, allowing adjustments to the mother’s position as needed and reducing discomfort associated with prolonged supine positioning.
Technology with a human focus
Although the Fetal Ultrasound Centre employs advanced and state-of-the-art technology, the central values always remain:
- the physician’s experience and responsibility,
- an individual approach to every pregnant woman,
- a calm, supportive, and safe examination environment.
Technology is our tool.
Humanity, thoughtful decision-making, and a trusting relationship with the patient are our core values.
