Pregnancy week by week

Selected week:

You

You might feel yourself tired, when your baby is going through one important development stage. Try to remain calm and rest as much as possible. The increased amount of pregnancy hormones can make your skin spotted or cause the formation of darker spots, especially on your face. Your nipples become darker and maybe you can also see dark line from your navel up to the vulva area – this is called linea nigra. The pregnancy hormones also slow down your digestive organs and could cause constipation – drink as much water as possible and eat more fruits and vegetables. Your breasts are going to expand and the waist of your clothes might feel tight, although you have no visible stomach yet. You might have appetite for certain food or you might not wish food and drinks that you liked before. Nausea and vomiting could become worse. If you vomit more than 2-3 times a day and you feel worse, you should contact your doctor. The frequent vomiting could involve the lack of liquid.

Your baby

Your baby is now about 2 cm long – 10 000 times bigger than the fertilized egg and it grows about one millimetre every day. The embryo starts to look more and more like a human being when the face is starting to develop and the baby is able to open and close its mouth. All inner organs have been developed, the primitive backbone is visible and bones start to develop. The knees and elbows have recognizable joints and fingers are clearly differentiable, although attached to each other.

Dr. Marek Šois recommends

It could happen that the pre-pregnancy bra has become small for you and does not offer adequate support any more. You could also need more comfortable trousers, as although your dummy is unnoticeable, this might not fit into tight jeans anymore. At the moment you can just cope with slightly wider clothes. Though, it is not a bad idea to visit special clothes stores meant for the pregnant. Many of the items sold there are well fit in the middle or at the end of pregnancy as well as some time after birth.

Have you already attended the pregnancy detection and fetal viability assessment?

Why is it essential to know the existence and type of twin pregnancy?

Approximately 2% of pregnancies are multiple pregnancies. It is possible to differentiate at the stage of the given pregnancy whether these are monozygotic or dizygotic twins. It is important, as monozygotic twins involve more often complications during pregnancy and their monitoring is more frequent than in case of dizygotic twins.
