Pregnancy week by week

Selected week:

You

Your baby might descend into vagina. In this case you feel that the weight has fallen down. It is easier to breathe, but at the same time the pressure on the bladder is bigger and you visit toilet room even more often than before. Be ready for gases and constipation. Although your child is gaining weight, you are not collecting additional kilos anymore. Some women could lose a couple of kilograms from your weight before birth. If this did not happen before, your breasts start to secrete first milk now which is irreplaceable food for your child in the future.

Your baby

Your baby weighs now 2700 g and is about 46 cm tall. It prepares for birth and is in the process of losing the fetal wool covering its body and also protective fetal ointment. The intestine of the child is filled with first faeces i.e. meconium. The baby should have turned now head-down. Since this week your baby might be born at any moment, as the child born between weeks 37 and 42 is considered due.

What to do?

If you have not done it yet, 30 days before the estimated due date of birth is the high time to stop working. If you remain to the pregnancy and birth leave later, your birth benefit decreases by these days you worked longer. Although contractions become more frequent, if these are not regular, there is no reason for panic. If the pain attacks occur in every five minutes, bloody fluid is coming from the vagina or the amniotic fluid breaks out, it is time to leave to the maternity hospital.

For the purpose that your midwife or gynaecologist could prepare the birth management plan , you  might wish to control the growth of baby, its position, welfare and the condition of uterus scar in case of previous cross section. In this case you might be interested in our fetal ultrasound of the third trimester to assess the fetal growth and position.
