Restrictions at the Fetal Ultrasound Center due to the widespread spread of SARS CoV-2 virus in Estonia

09.08.2021

Due to the widespread of the SARS CoV-2 virus, several restrictions have been reintroduced in the Fetal Ultrasound Center.

We ask you to take these restrictions very seriously and to adhere to them in the interests of yourself, your loved ones and the staff of the Fetal Ultrasound Center.

  • At the Fetal Ultrasound Center, only one support person in addition to the patient is allowed to the doctor's appointment.
  • The support person must provide proof of either COVID-19 vaccination, having recently had the virus (up to 6 months of illness) or a negative PCR test result (no older than 72 hours) .
  • To give blood tests, please come to the midwife´s or nurse's office without children and a support person.
  • If you are ill, have recently arrived from a foreign country or have been in contact with a COVID-19 patient, cancel the appointment by calling 656 6162 or 521 0046 and ask the administrator to book a new appointment.

Patients with viral and cold diseases are not allowed to come to the Fetal Ultrasound Center!

  • If you have had symptoms of airway inflammation (fever, cough, runny nose, sore throat) in the last 2 weeks.
  • If you have been exposed to COVID-19 in the last 2 weeks.
  • If you have, in the last 2 weeks, returned from a foreign country, where you must remain in self-isolation upon arrival.

In all of the above cases, you and your support person can be admitted if you and your support person have had a negative COVID-19 nasopharyngeal test in the last 72 hours before admission. By prior arrangement, you can test at Synlab testing sites

Despite the fact that it is safer to come to the Fetal Ultrasound Center for a fetal ultrasound examination than to do it in a large hospital, we try to minimize the number of visitors to the centre. The more people there are in the waiting room, the more likely it is that one of them is infected and transmits the virus.

Upon entering the Fetal Ultrasound Center, the patient disinfects the hands and puts on a protective mask. We do not serve patients without a mask or fabric mask. Children under the age of 12 do not have to wear masks.

Please follow the 2 + 2 rule in the premises of the Fetal Ultrasound Center.

At the Fetal Ultrasound Center, the gynaecologist uses protective gloves during the ultrasound examination, and there is a replaceable base sheet for each patient.

We ask families to understand. The current situation is not normal. The small staff of the Fetal Ultrasound Center does their best to ensure the safety of the mother and the baby.

Best wishes

Dr Marek Šois
